One of the four pillars of Greek Life at Mizzou, philanthropy plays a large role in the lives of Mizzou Greeks. Each chapter has its own, usually week long, philanthropy event with the funds raised going to various local and national beneficiaries. Annually, Greeks raise tens of thousands of dollars for various beneficiaries. Along with each chapter having its own philanthropic event, chapters participate in other fraternity and sorority philanthropy events and service to the community as a whole goes beyond simply donating money, members also spend time volunteering locally for their beneficiary, or just for fun.
National Pan-Hellenic Association
NPHC has continued the tradition of each organization by serving both the MU and Columbia community. Each organization participates in annual events such as: Freshman Move In, King of Hearts Scholarship Pageant, Penny Wars, Alpha Tree, Delta After Dark, Highway Clean Up, Jonathan P. Hicks Scholarship Fund, and many more.
In addition to the Panhellenic Association’s philanthropy, Circle of Sisterhood, each chapter has one or more philanthropies that they raise money for throughout the year. Below are the individual chapter’s philanthropies and how they raise money for them each semester.
