Greek Week Off to a Great Start

Greek Week Off to a Great Start

April 3, 2016 kicked off Greek Week at Mizzou. Greek Week Steering Committee, Liaisons, and chapter members are already working hard to place in the Top 5 pairings, and most importantly give back to the community. The first event of Greek Week was a barbeque hosted by the Greek Week Special Events Committee.

Darby Slattery, Evan Chipley, and Ty Kapitzky who make up the Special Events Committee worked hard to make the Kick Off a success. At the barbeque, there was food, Andy’s Frozen Custard, and McAllister’s Sweet Tea for all of the Greek Students. The event also featured a dunk tank, a mini horse, and booths set up from the six beneficiaries that Greek Week is sponsoring this year.

Greek Week occurs April 3-17th , and there are many things to do before announcements. Events like Service, Blood, Fling, Public Relations, and Spirit are all different components necessary to make Greek Week a success. The Kick Off barbeque event was an excellent way to start off Greek Week, and gave pairings and students a chance to reconnect before jumping right into Greek Week events.

Upcoming events include Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, and Swim Relay April 7-10th, Fling April 12-14th, and Service events such as Caring for Columbia and Special Olympics happening April 16th.
